3 Summer Revelations

One of the perks of being a teacher is the fact you always have “Summer Mode” to look forward to. No matter how trying the school year becomes, June, July and some of August are always a sure bet. It is probably one of the few factors why people envy teachers. Hell, we certainly know it isn’t our salaries. LOL.

So, as I write you from the airport preparing to fly to the beautiful island of St. Thomas and then take a cruise throughout the US Virgin Islands, I am toatlly in Summer Mode; hence today’s Revelations.

These are dedicated to ‘your Summer Mode’. Whether it be a week, weekend, or a few months long. Reminisce on your childhood summer memories or your favorite vacations. It is sure to bring a smile to your face.

1. One must maintain a little bit of summer, even in the middle of winter ~Abraham Lincoln

2. “It’s a smile, it’s a kiss, it’s a sip of wine…it’s summertime” ~ Kenny Chesney

3. Live, Laugh, Love…all throughout the year.

Friends, I bid you adeu for a bit. I promise to post as soon as I can.

Blissful Blessings,

Five Rejuvenating Revelations

Everything you ever needed to know came in the children’s books you were read in kindergarten.  So in honor of the arrival of Summer Vacation here are some revelations to get you revved up for this blissfully fun season and through this Friday.

  • “A little consideration, a little Though for Others, makes all the difference.”  ~Winnie the Pooh
  • “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.” ~Dr. Suess
  • “Inside all of us is a wild thing” ~Maurice Sendak
  • Listen to the mustn’ts, child.  Listen to the don’ts.  Listen to the shouldn’ts, the impossibles, the won’ts.  Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me…ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN, CHILD.  ANYTHING CAN BE.” ~Shel Silverstein
  • “Today is your day!  Your mountain is waiting…So, go!  Get on your way!” ~Dr. Suess

Friday Rejuvenating Revelations

Graduation…awwwe.  Makes you think of those stress-free times when all you had to worry about was getting a half-decent SAT score and into a good college.  Things have changed and these days teenagers have more to deal with than the average adult realizes.  So, today’s Friday Rejuvenating Revelations are dedicated to my niece who graduates high school today, as well as all my high school kiddies, who are also donning the cap and gown and growing up!

5 Rejuvenating Revelations for those Graduating into Adulthood:

  • Life only gets better from here:  Trust me- if you think your High School years were the best days of your life, you are sorely mistaken.  You are in for the ride of your life with tons of fun, wise lessons, and blissful experiences along the way.

  • Congratulations! Today is your day. You’re off to Great Places! You’re off and away!  You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own And you know what you know. You are the guy who’ll decide where to go. ~Dr. Seuss
  • Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.  Live the life you have imagined. ~Henry David Thoreau

  • Never travel faster than your Guardian Angel can fly ~ Mother Teresa

  • It is our choices…that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.~Albus Dumbledore

I used to be afraid of change.  I used to be so scared to grow up and grow older…turns out life is like fine wine and it truly gets better with age.  So, friends, whatever beautiful horizon you find yourself facing today- embrace it.

To all the graduates out there, the world is yours to do with it what you want, but with that comes a great responsibility.  You have a gift, a beautiful treasure that lies within only you.  It is your duty to discover, share, and nurture its growth.  Make this world a better place.
